Our Name

The Mattole is one of the last “wild” (un-dammed) rivers in California. The river became our namesake because it provides our cannabis the ideal microclimate to thrive. With full, clear sun during the day and a reliable breeze coming up from the river valley at sundown, our plants grow strong and happy.

Our Practices

Growing in such a sensitive and precious wilderness, our focus is working with nature as well as supporting our local environmental organizations. We take pride in our native soil and have it tested yearly by Luke at Tea Lab to make sure we add the appropriate organic amendments – so natural processes enrich the soil for our plants to create the highest quality cannabis possible.

We treasure our mountain spring water by practicing forbearance during the dry season of the year to help protect the river and all that lives there.

We plant flowers and herbs around the property to attract beneficial insects which naturally prevent harmful pests, removing the need to spray harsh chemicals onto our plants. This means a healthier product for you and the environment.

Naturally Grown Produce

The Mattole is the last undammed, “wild” river in California. The word became our namesake because it provides our cannabis the ideal microclimate to thrive. With a full, clear sun during the day and a reliable breeze coming up from the river valley at sundown, our plants grow strong and happy.

We take pride in our native soil and have it tested yearly to make sure we add the appropriate amendments. Our farm loves working with Luke at TeaLAB. After testing the soil, he determines the right quantities of each element to determine the suitable amount of dirt, worms, and good microbes that he will add. This process ensures that organic processes enrich the soil for our plants.

Our farm treasures mountain spring water. As such, we practice forbearance during the dry season of the year to help protect the river and its inhabitants.

We plant flowers and herbs around the property that attract beneficial insects. These creatures prevent harmful pests, removing the need to spray chemicals onto our plants. This process means a healthier product for us, our customers, and the environment.
